ABOUT

Seasons Under
the Son

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart.

Ecclesiastes 3:11, NIV

Welcome!

And you will find community here with many other women experiencing similar situations. Seasons Under the Son is a place to find hope, grow spiritually, and learn to trust Jesus in all seasons.

Snow falling on evergreen trees at night.
Yellow flowers blooming against a blue sky with a few clouds.
A calm beach scene with a sandy shore at the bottom, a breakwater extending into the ocean with people standing on it, and the vast ocean with gentle waves under a clear blue sky.
A scenic mountain landscape with a forest of colorful autumn trees under a clear blue sky.

Why Seasons?

I have always been drawn to the concept of seasons—the literal seasons that occur each year, the chronological seasons connected to our age and stage of life, and, most of all, the seasons of life described in Ecclesiastes 3.

God created seasons on the fourth day, establishing the rhythm by which we track time: winter, spring, summer, and fall as the earth circles the sun.

“Then God said, ‘Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.’” (Genesis 1:14, NLT)

Throughout the Bible—especially in the Old Testament—God uses seasons to mark time and significant events. These rhythms guided His people in planting and harvesting, celebrating feasts, gathering in worship, and preparing for the coming Messiah.

King Solomon, the son of King David, was the first to describe life in terms of seasons. In his search for meaning, Solomon concluded that every season of life “under the sun”—from birth to death—has a time and purpose (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

In reflecting on all he had accomplished as the wisest, wealthiest and most powerful man of his time, Solomon ultimately realized that life “under the sun” is meaningless without God—like chasing after the wind. He concluded that true meaning and purpose in every season come from fearing the Lord: acknowledging Him, revering Him, worshiping Him, and living our lives for Him. Solomon’s final advice is to “Honor God and obey his commands” (Ecclesiastes 12:13, NCV).

In the New Testament, Jesus used the imagery of seasons when teaching His disciples and followers. Through parables filled with agricultural and seasonal imagery, He revealed truths about the Kingdom of God and demonstrated how prophecy was fulfilled through His life, death and Resurrection.

Jesus is the reason for and the meaning behind every season.

We are called to love like Jesus—God’s Son—and live every day of our lives under His reign and amazing grace.

My Current Season

God has blessed me with many seasons of abundance and joy, but I am currently walking through the hardest season in my sixty (plus) years of life.

I’m no stranger to difficult seasons, including struggles with addiction, depression and anxiety, chronic illness, blended family issues, career crises, dashed dreams, destructive relationships, challenging geographic moves, taking care of aging parents, and rebuilding my marriage after it nearly imploded, just to name a few.

I am still standing and walking with Jesus every single day. But this current season is very different from others—and more devastating. Our daughter, now in her 30s, is battling Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Even in this painful and discouraging season, God is weaving goodness into the fabric of our lives. He provides hope when the days feel heavy, restores broken relationships, deepens my faith, brings joy despite the circumstances, and provides peace in the midst of chaos.

Through it all, God continually blesses me with a wealth of experiences, reflections and lessons to share, so that I can walk alongside others in their own difficult seasons—offering encouragement, perspective and renewed hope.

What Season are You in?

  • Are you walking through a dark and desperate season—or a joyful season of abundance?

  • Are you grieving the loss of a loved one or maybe feeling the ache of an unfulfilled dream?

  • Are you an empty-nester wondering what comes next?

  • Do you feel lonely, isolated, or far from God, wondering where He in the midst of your suffering?

  • Are you the one holding everyone else together and tired of being the “glue?”

  • Are you experiencing the joy of being a grandparent?

  • Are you frustrated with (or alienated from) family members or friends who are embracing the current culture and turning away from biblical values?

  • Are you in the middle of a “do-over” in some area of your life?

  • Do you feel exhausted from a never-ending to-do list or depleted from serving in too many roles?

  • Are you struggling with a major life decision, daunted by the choices and potential consequences?

  • Are you just coming up for air after a long, oppressive season?

  • Are you growing deeper in God’s Word, strengthening your faith, and serving others?

No matter what season you are experiencing, you’ve come to the right place! God brought you here for a reason and as an answer to prayer—mine and, hopefully, yours.

I’m delighted, grateful and honored you’re here, and I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey with Jesus as we learn to live, love, trust and grow together through all Seasons Under the Son.
